Does SaverX work with non-BMS buildings?

SaverX is one of our flagship products, which reduces the energy consumption of the HVAC system from Day 1, without affecting your required room temperatures, nor does it involve infrastructural changes.

You might have already heard about SaverX, if you’ve been following our social media profiles - this is how it is saving for the clients with air-cooled or water-cooled chillers.

One of the questions we often get asked in this regard is whether SaverX works for buildings without BMS. And the answer is yes, it does.

For starters, what is a BMS?
It stands for Building Management System. This is a system that lets you control your entire building equipment at the click of a button from your screen, just like how a CCTV system does that for you in terms of human monitoring.

When we started offering SaverX integration for buildings with BMS, we realised that there are many buildings that have partial BMS or buildings without BMS. And we at Zodhya always strive to avoid the replacement of such existing systems by integrating with them (more about our journey in integration here).

In this blog, we talk about how SaverX works in a non-BMS building.

The following is a depiction of the SaverX architecture.

As you can see, the marked region in red is where the SaverX capability resides, to integrate with BMS, either locally or cloud-hosted, depending on the protocol for communication activated on the BMS for third-party integrations.

When buildings are non-BMS or partial BMS, that means there is no active communication with the HVAC system that already exists, owing to the affordability of the system.

To replicate the deployment of a fully functioning BMS in a short time frame isn’t easy either, hence we had to offer SaverX in another way.

That’s where our team has developed a control device that can be integrated with the HMI (Human Machine Interface) of the HVAC system so that the entire savings inputs/ outputs are in a closed loop. Though the inputs required are minimal, we also have sensor-based inputs (wifi node connected via broker) to address any input requirement for the system.

This positions SaverX to be readily integrable to any given building that has an HVAC system with an air-cooled/ water-cooled chiller for cooling or with a gas-fired boiler or water heat pumps for heating.

And makes SaverX ready to save on energy consumption for a variety of buildings across the world.
